Why settle for, "I suppose it takes you two days to journey to the next town... and it's pretty cold, so take 1d4 CON damage"? Turn the player characters' journey into a fully fledged adventure as they struggle to find shelter from the chill winds, hunt for running water, get caught in an epic terrifying avalanche, and even possibly die of hypothermia... doesn't actually sound that pleasant after all... certainly memorable at the very least
