Missing MSVCP71.dll file

Bug reports and HELP!

I just downloaded and installed Syrinscape (2.5). When I attempt to run the program, an error message that states:

The application has failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found. Reinstalling this application may fix this problem.

The next message tells me to check the error log file within Syrinscape.exe.log (which I have not found in the install directory). Syrinscape has a MSVCR71.dll file in its directory, but no listing of an MSVCP71.dll.

I have reinstalled (uninstalled Syrinscape, then rebooted, then reinstalled) Syrinscape three times now with the same error message.

Any one encounter this issue before?

Update: I found the MSVCP71.dll in my Windows.old folder (windows 7 32bit). Once I copied that out and into the Syrinscape directory, I was able to get Syrinscape to load.

Hi Mac,

I gather you are not using XP, and yes a couple have had this problem with later operating systems (than XP). The solution is simple just search for and download the dll yourself (put it in the Syrinscape directory).

You should be able to find it here:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcp71

Click the link that says:
"Cick here to go to the download of msvcp71.dll"

Then click the link that says:
"Download msvcp71.dll"

(DON'T CLICK any of the coloured buttons that say: "start download".)

Save, unzip and put the file in the Syrinscape directory which is probably something like:
C:\Program Files\Syrinscape

Seems safe enough. Can you post here it works for you?

PS There was a forum post about this particular issue on my site before my wonderful server wiped everything.
